Loco Energy Drink offers Taylor rallycross career lifeline

Rallycross driver Jake Taylor has been handed a career lifeline by new sponsor Loco Energy Drink, after his season in the RX150 Rallycross Championship appeared in doubt due to a budget shortfall.

Following a successful pair of opening rounds in the series for the Retford driver, who claimed a brace of fourth place finishes at Croft and Lydden Hill to be third overall in the standings, Taylor faced a race against time to secure the funding to continue in the single-make, single-seater support category to the MSA British Rallycross Championship.

Thanks to assistance offered by Loco Energy Drink as a primary partner, MSA Academy Member Taylor will be able to complete the 2017 campaign as he aims to form a full-time professional career in rallycross.

“LOCO are very pleased to take Jake on board as one of our rallycross athletes,” said Loco Energy Drink’s Leonie Blackburn. “We’ve been watching Jake’s progress for a while and are impressed with his ambition and likability. Jake has the whole package and we are looking forward to the rest of the 2017 season in the RX150 Championship and also exploring plans for 2018 too.”

Taylor’s partnership with Loco Energy Drink will begin in public this weekend, where he will compete in the third round of the RX150 Championship at Pembrey in South Wales, on a heavily revised circuit. “I’m so excited to be able to continue my RX150 campaign,” said Taylor. “I’m over the moon to be working with LOCO, I love their values and their drink, and I’m really excited to see what they have planned for the future. I’m delighted to be part of their rallycross team, I can’t wait to continue my journey working with them as an ambassador for their growing international brand. This really does mean more than I can explain, I was speechless when I found out this amazing news.”

The support comes on the back of several years’ of hard work by JT Motorsport, to achieve a fully-funded motor racing programme. “Our three-year plan at JT Motorsport has come together perfectly and a huge thank you must go to my dad who has painstakingly masterminded the whole strategy step-by-step with me and for my brand,” explained former Swift Sport Rallycross Championship podium finisher Taylor.

“It’s not been easy, after countless setbacks and challenges we carried on regardless over the last few years. It’s proved that with hard work, dedication, a solid plan and remaining focused on your goal that anything is possible. LOCO Energy Drink has proven that there are major businesses watching the world of rallycross that understand its huge potential and I am incredibly grateful of their support. This is the start of another really exciting chapter for me in rallycross. I can’t wait to get back in the buggy this weekend and I’m very proud to have LOCO as my primary partner.”
